SENIOR SEMINAR OBJECTIVES

Objective II - Event Analysis & Reflection

Dropping over 20 pounds for my soccer season was a transformative experience that sparked my interest in becoming a personal trainer. This personal experiment taught me the importance of balanced workouts, appropriate workloads, nutritious eating, and sufficient rest. Over two months, I shed 25 pounds, going from 198 to 173. This journey emphasized the power of consistent effort and the accumulation of small victories, ultimately leading to a significant achievement.

After a disappointing season on the men's soccer team, recognizing the connection between my fitness and my performance, I decided to prioritize my fitness. The decision was relatively easy, but the process required significant discipline. Through this experience, I gained valuable insights into the stages and strategies involved in weight loss. This knowledge will undoubtedly equip me to guide others towards their own fitness goals.

One of the most valuable lessons I learned was the importance of accountability tools and proper training execution. Using fitness apps and investing in wearable technology can help track activities and food intake, motivating you to stay on track. Additionally, researching and experimenting with different diets can help you find a plan that aligns with your preferences and goals. While many diets are promoted on social media, my personal experience with intermittent fasting was effective. The key is to choose a diet that excites and inspires you to maintain your fitness journey.

My fitness journey has solidified my desire to pursue a career in personal training. The insights gained from my own transformation have equipped me with a deep understanding of the physical and mental challenges individuals face when striving for fitness goals. I am confident in my ability to provide effective guidance and support to clients of all backgrounds. I envision opening my own personal training studio or working as a certified personal trainer at a reputable fitness facility. My goal is to help individuals achieve their fitness aspirations and improve their overall quality of life. I plan to continue learning and staying updated on the latest fitness trends and techniques to ensure I provide the best possible service to my clients. The most valuable lesson I've learned is the importance of a personalized approach to fitness, tailored to everyone's unique needs and goals.

Objective III- Historical, Sociological, and Psychological foundations of Exercise and Sport Science.

Historical Connections: Risk Management

My exploration of the historical connections within risk management has provided a valuable framework for understanding the field's evolution. From its early beginnings to contemporary analysis, I have traced the development of key concepts and methodologies. For example, I have examined past case studies of risks that were managed ineffectively, identifying potential causes and exploring alternative strategies that could have mitigated the negative consequences. My project for this class was to create a risk mitigation, where I find a facility and provide a risk management program.

Sociological Connections: Health Promotion and Performance

For Sociologial connections Health Promotion and Performance required us to create a program that would benefit a community. My project Sports Performance & Injury Prevention Program fosters a sense of inclusivity, addresses social disparities, builds community, and promotes health and well-being within the Judson University community. By offering free training and resources to all members of the university, regardless of their athletic background or skill level, the program ensures that everyone has a fair chance to participate and benefit. This inclusive approach not only promotes a sense of belonging but also helps to mitigate the impact of socioeconomic disparities on athletic opportunities. Additionally, the program serves as a platform for athletes from different sports to connect and build a sense of community, while also focusing on injury prevention and overall health to contribute to the broader goal of promoting well-being within the university.

Psychological Connections: Sports and Exercise Psychology

The psychological connections within sports science have deepened my understanding of the mental aspects of athletic performance. I have explored the role of motivation, self-regulation, and coping mechanisms in determining athletic success. For example, research on the psychology of sports injuries has shed light on the emotional challenges faced by athletes and the importance of psychological support in recovery. Additionally, I have examined the impact of sports on mental health and well-being, highlighting the potential benefits of physical activity in reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. This psychological perspective has helped me appreciate the multifaceted nature of athletic performance and the critical role of mental training in achieving optimal results.

Overall Reflection

Through my exploration of historical, sociological, and psychological connections, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of the field of sports science. These connections have provided me with a rich context for interpreting current research and applying scientific knowledge to practical settings. By incorporating these insights into my career, I am better equipped to contribute to the advancement of sports science and make a positive impact on the lives of athletes and the broader community.
